Revutskyi Prize 2027 by the State Agency for Arts: UAH 20,000 for young composers and concert performers under 35, documents by 15 December
The State Agency of Ukraine for Arts and Art Education has announced the competition for the L. M. Revutskyi Prize for 2027. This annual state prize recognizes achievements in professional musical composition and concert performance by young Ukrainian artists. The selection process takes place ahead of the formal awarding ceremony scheduled for February 2027.
The prize carries a total monetary fund of UAH 20,000, which is split equally if laureates are selected across both competitive categories. Nominations are not submitted directly by individual artists but must be put forward by accredited cultural institutions, music unions, or educational establishments by 15 December 2026.
What is funded
The competition honors outstanding creative work in two distinct categories: musical composition and concert performance. In each category, the prize can be awarded to only one recipient, and an artist can receive this honor only once in their lifetime.
In the composition category, submitted works must be completed musical pieces written by professional composers and publicly premiered or performed within the past three years. In the performance category, candidates are evaluated on academic concert programmes of one or two sections that were publicly performed within the preceding three years. Works that have already won this prize or other state awards are not eligible, though past unawarded submissions may compete again.
Who can apply
Eligible applicants are citizens of Ukraine who work as professional composers or concert performers, including instrumentalists, vocalists, conductors, and choirmasters. Candidates must be under 35 years old as of 1 February 2027.
Nominations must be officially submitted by eligible cultural and academic institutions. These include cultural organizations of all ownership types working in the field of music, specialized higher and vocational arts education institutions, the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, the National Union of Composers of Ukraine, the National All-Ukrainian Music Union, and relevant cultural civil society organizations.
Conditions and requirements
The total cash award of UAH 20,000 is distributed evenly between the laureates if winners are selected in both categories, or awarded in full if only one category produces a laureate. Posthumous nominations are strictly prohibited under the prize guidelines.
The submitting institution and the nominee bear shared responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of all submitted documentation. If the agency identifies formal non-compliance during the preliminary review, the submitting entity is notified and permitted to correct and resubmit the package before the final deadline.
How to apply
Submissions are accepted digitally through the Registry of applications and recipients of state support in the field of culture via the electronic cabinet of the nominating institution. If technical constraints prevent online entry, materials may be submitted via email.
The application package must include an official petition on institutional letterhead, descriptions of the works, music scores for compositions, audio or video recordings, premiere verification materials, at least two professional reviews, the nominee’s written consent, personal data consent, a professional biography, an artistic reference, identification records, tax registration, and copies of educational degrees.
Practical tip. Coordinate early with your nominating institution to assemble the required portfolio, specifically securing the two mandatory external reviews and premiere evidence like concert posters or media coverage. Submitting your package ahead of the 15 December 2026 deadline provides a crucial safety margin to resolve any administrative deficiencies flagged by the agency.
