Fueling Circularity and Green Business with Space Data – FIERCE 2nd Open Call for Financial Support

The FIERCE project, funded under the European Union Horizon Europe programme, has launched its Second Open Call for Financial Support titled ‘Fueling Circularity and Green Business with Space Data’. The funding scheme assists businesses in adopting space-enabled green solutions that deliver verifiable environmental benefits across European markets.

Selected single entities can access up to €50,000 in lump-sum vouchers to purchase specialized support from external service providers. The application window remains open until 9 November 2026 at 17:00 Brussels Time, leading to a structured six-month support cycle beginning in February 2027.

What is funded

The call finances the procurement of specialized services from External Service Providers (ESPs) under three defined project tracks. The Ideation pathway provides up to €25,000 for early research and feasibility validation of immature concepts. The Scale-Up pathway offers up to €50,000 for testing, prototype refinement, and industrial pilot implementation, while the Commercialisation pathway provides up to €25,000 for full system integration, market entry, and investor readiness.

Projects must implement one of two transformation types to improve environmental outcomes. Type A transformation projects focus on direct internal process improvements to decrease the company’s own environmental footprint, such as resource consumption and waste production. Type B transformation projects focus on indirect environmental impacts through the creation or enhancement of green products and services for end users.

Who can apply

Eligible applicants must apply as single legal entities registered in an EU Member State, Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT), or Horizon Europe Associated Countries, including Switzerland and Ukraine. The call is open to self-employed individuals, micro-enterprises with fewer than 10 employees and turnover up to €2 million, small enterprises with fewer than 50 employees, and medium enterprises with under 250 employees and annual turnover up to €50 million.

Applicants must demonstrate the concrete integration of downstream space data into their operational model. Supported technologies include Earth Observation, satellite navigation, and remote sensing applied to circularity, critical raw materials management, or enhanced environmental monitoring.

Conditions and requirements

Total financial support is strictly capped at €50,000 per beneficiary across the open call. Applicants pursuing the Ideation or Commercialisation tracks are permitted to submit up to two separate and clearly distinct projects to fully utilize the total €50,000 funding allocation.

Practical tip. If your current initiative falls under either the Ideation or Commercialisation track, plan two independent work packages across separate operational focus areas to fully capture the €50,000 grant ceiling rather than submitting a single €25,000 project. Ensure each proposal features clearly differentiated technical scopes and separate external service contracts to meet evaluation guidelines.

Recipients receive lump-sum vouchers to contract technical, business, environmental, or financing services. In addition to voucher funding, successful participants gain matchmaking access to pre-approved or self-proposed external providers and receive an assigned Lead Mentor to oversee their Transformation Plan.

How to apply

Submissions must be prepared in English and submitted through the official online platform before 9 November 2026 at 17:00 Brussels Time. The evaluation process includes an administrative eligibility verification, a pre-scoring filter if submissions exceed 60 applications, and a final assessment by independent external experts.

Applicants seeking additional clarification on requirements can attend the consortium Info Day on 1 October at 11:00 CET. A secondary technical session focusing on proposal preparation will be held during the ‘How to apply’ webinar on 27 October at 14:00 CET.

Applications are submitted on the donor’s page: project-fierce.eu.
