EBRD Star Venture: programme for tech startups in Ukraine, apply by 30 October
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has opened applications for its Star Venture programme targeting high-potential technology startups in Ukraine and Moldova. The initiative aims to support scalable ventures through specialized non-financial expertise.
Instead of cash disbursements, selected participants receive customized advisory projects, mentorship, and investor matchmaking. The application deadline for the current selection cycle is 30 October 2026.
What is funded
The programme focuses on capacity building and scaling assistance rather than providing direct grant funding. Selected participants receive tailored advisory projects delivered by local and international industry experts.
In addition to consultancy projects, participants obtain access to global mentoring networks and direct connections with potential investors. These activities are designed to help early-stage ventures refine their operational structure and accelerate business growth.
Who can apply
Eligible applicants include technology startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) led by technical founders with strong core teams. The venture must be operating at the pre-Series A development stage.
Eligible companies must be active in Ukraine or Moldova, or have the majority of their engineering and product development operations located within EBRD countries of operations.
Conditions and requirements
Candidates must demonstrate early commercial traction, a proven product-market fit, and clear potential for rapid growth. The call is sector agnostic and accepts solutions across various tech domains.
The programme strictly excludes projects and enterprises operating in specific industries. Applications related to military products or services, gambling, and tobacco are not eligible for review.
How to apply
Startups must submit their entries via the designated online application system before the deadline. The donor indicates that completing the application takes approximately 30 minutes.
Practical tip. Ensure your application clearly details the technical background of your founding team and provides tangible metrics verifying your early commercial traction and product-market fit. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to pitch directly to an international panel of experts and investors during the final round.
Applications are submitted on the donor’s page: ebrd.com.
