Grants from the Swedish Institute: SI Creative Partnerships Programme

The Swedish Institute is accepting applications for the SI Creative Partnerships Programme, which supports projects aimed at promoting democracy, human rights, and freedom of expression.

SI Creative Partnerships Programme Goal

The funded initiatives will contribute to democratic development, increase respect for human rights, and support freedom of expression in the EU Eastern Partnership countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.

Types of Grants

1) Seed Funding
This grant helps to prepare or plan a collaboration project. A Swedish organization, partnered with a Ukrainian organization, can apply for funding of up to 200,000 SEK.

• Grant Amount: up to 200,000 SEK
• Project Duration: 6-12 months

Important: Receiving seed funding does not guarantee automatic support for the next stage of the project. Additionally, applying for seed funding is not a required step to apply for a larger grant.

2) Cooperation Projects
This grant supports large-scale projects that focus on knowledge exchange and strengthening the professional capacity of partner organizations or target groups.

• Grant Amount: up to 2,000,000 SEK
• Project Duration: up to 24 months

Is Your Project Suitable for the Programme?

The Creative Partnerships Programme funds projects that:

• aim to strengthen democracy, human rights, and/or freedom of expression in the target countries;
• seek to enhance the professional capacity of individuals who can drive change in their organizations or sectors;
• involve partners in knowledge exchange, network building, or developing innovative methods;
• are sustainable, meaning the methods and results will continue after the project ends;
• address locally identified needs rather than those determined solely by the Swedish applicant;
• do not pursue a profit motive.

Who Can Apply?

A Swedish organization must be the main applicant. This organization must represent civil society, the public sector, or the private sector and must have been registered in Sweden for at least two years. The application must include a partnership with one or more organizations from the target countries listed above.

Project partners can be formal or informal cultural initiatives, journalist networks, media organizations, or entities in the public, private, or civil society sectors.
