Culture Moves Europe: travel and project grants abroad for artists from Ukraine, €85 a day plus up to €800 for travel, monthly deadlines until 30 April 2027

Culture Moves Europe has published its 2026-2027 call for individual mobility, supporting cross-border mobility for artists and cultural professionals. Funded by the European Commission under the Creative Europe programme and implemented by the Goethe-Institut, this initiative provides financial assistance for individuals or groups of up to five people seeking to implement projects abroad.

Grants include a daily subsistence allowance of €85 alongside fixed travel support of €400 or €800, supplemented by various top-up allowances for green travel, families, visas, and accessibility needs. The call operates on a rolling basis with regular monthly evaluation rounds, concluding on 30 April 2027.

What is funded

The grant provides financial coverage for individual or group mobility projects implemented in another Creative Europe country in collaboration with an international partner. Funding consists of a daily allowance of €85 for each project implementation day, paired with a travel allowance based on calculated straight-line distance. Projects involving travel under 5,000 km receive €400, while trips of 5,000 km or more receive €800.

Additional financial top-ups are available to address specific travel and living needs. Applicants can receive €400 for green mobility, €175 for travel involving overseas countries and territories or outermost regions, €200 per child under 18 years old, and €120 for visa fees. For individuals with disabilities, accessibility support provides €30 per day, as well as actual costs or a fixed allowance for personal assistance or sign language interpretation.

Conditions and requirements

Projects must be implemented with an international partner, which can be an organization or an individual based in another Creative Europe country. The proposed project must address at least two of the four formal objectives: to learn, to create, to explore, or to connect.

Applicants must supply official documentation to verify their identity and legal residency in a participating country. In addition, submissions require a short curriculum vitae, an artistic and creative portfolio, and a formal letter of invitation from the chosen international host partner.

How to apply

Applications must be completed and submitted online through the Goethe-Application Portal. Even when applying as a group, the applicant registers under an individual profile, navigates to Culture Moves Europe funding, and selects the individual mobility track.

The application must be completed in English, though linguistic proficiency is not scored, and the donor explicitly permits the use of online translation tools. Submissions are reviewed after monthly cut-off dates, including deadlines on 31 October and 30 November 2026, as well as 31 January, 28 February, 31 March, and 30 April 2027. Results are communicated via the portal within eight weeks following each monthly deadline.

Practical tip. Make sure to obtain a comprehensive, signed letter of invitation from your international host partner early, as your project must clearly align with at least two of the four official objectives to score well during independent evaluation.

Applications are submitted on the donor’s page: culture.ec.europa.eu.
